Choose audio compatibility or a different file size
Convert supported recordings between common audio formats, including MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG and FLAC. Pick the output your player or editing application accepts; use Compress Audio when the goal is a smaller MP3 copy.
Choosing a lossless format cannot recreate information already discarded by a lossy source. Output settings can also change bit depth or sample rate, and some codecs or browsers may be unsupported.
Common questions
Does converting MP3 to FLAC improve its sound quality?
No. A FLAC copy cannot restore audio information discarded by MP3 compression. Use an original lossless recording when you need the best available source for editing.
Why does the audio output have a different file size?
Size depends on duration, codec, bitrate, sample rate and channel count. A new format can be larger or smaller; compare the output and listen to it before replacing the original.
