Common questions

Which settings can make a GIF smaller?

A lower maximum width, frame rate or color count can reduce the amount of animation data. The tradeoff is smaller dimensions, less smooth motion or a more limited palette.

Will Compress GIF always reduce the file size?

No. Some GIFs are already efficient. If the generated copy is not smaller, the tool returns the original instead; compare the result before replacing any important animation.

Does Compress GIF upload my selected file?

No. The selected file is processed in your browser rather than uploaded to a conversion server. The page may download processing software or models, and ordinary website connection requests still occur.

Why can the first use take longer?

The browser may first download a processing engine. Speed depends on your browser, available memory and the file's complexity. Keep this tab open until the result is ready.
